GL Garrad Hassan caters for wind in Pakistan

Recent studies conducted by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratories have shown that the coastal belt of Pakistan features a wind corridor with an exploitable wind power potential of up to 50,000 MW. To date the Government of Pakistan has awarded letters of intent to 35 wind power projects with a total capacity of more than 1,500 MW. International Development Banks are financing several of these projects.

To accommodate the demand for consulting services from project developers, lenders and investors created by this expanding market, GL Garrad Hassan has appointed Mayura Botejue as its Country Advisor in Pakistan. Mr Botejue is based in Karachi and his role will be to develop new business and support GL Garrad Hassan?s on-going activities in the country.

Mr Botejue has 18 years of wind energy project experience, providing technical, operational and strategic leadership for the renewable energy industry. Before joining GL Garrad Hassan he worked for GE Wind Energy, USA and NEG Micon, USA. Today, he is based in Pakistan and engaged as an independent consultant in wind project development in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. Mr Botejue received a BS (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering, from City University, London.

Commenting on Mr Botejue?s appointment Mathias Steck, GL Garrad Hassan Regional Manager Asia Pacific and Senior Vice President, said: "Mr Botejue?s experience in the Pakistani wind energy market will help to further expand GL Garrad Hassan?s renewables business and identify new opportunities." GL Garrad Hassan, the Renewables business segment of the GL Group, is already active in the Pakistani market, conducting wind resource assessments and technical due diligence on behalf of equity investors and lenders.
