Cooper Bussmann Lightning arrester guards PV cells from damage
Photovoltaic installations up to 1000V UCPV can be protected by the prewired combined lightning current and surge arrester developed by Cooper Bussmann, the industry leader in critical circuit protection, power management and electrical safety.
This device is classified as Surge Protective Device (SPD) Class I according to IEC 61643-1s and is designed to handle the damaging effects on the electrical system from a direct lightning strike to the lightning conducting rod. It is suitable for applications where lightning currents are not only diverted via the external lightning protection system but also induced into the electrical cables.
Spark gaps are capable of managing the high energy transients caused by direct lightning strikes and this is achieved by modern spark gap technology incorporated in this lightning arrestor. As a result it has a high lightning current discharge capacity and enables maximum transient suppression for sensitive PV systems.
