Alstom Grid wins contract for a 765 kV turnkey substation in India
Alstom Grid, through its Indian subsidiary Areva T&D India Limited, has been awarded a contract worth approximately ?60 million, by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RRVPNL), State transmission utility, for the design and the construction of a 765 kV turnkey substation located in the Rajasthan state (India). The contract also includes Extra High Voltage (EHV)transformers and reactors, and a long-term maintenance service.
Within the state of Rajasthan, the existing 400 kV transmission network is being scaled up to 765 kV to support a growing number of power projects with generation capacities reaching 4000 MW and beyond. Alstom Grid's innovative 765 kV EHV substation will increase power transfer capacity, allowing more power to be transmitted across the network, improving efficiency.
Under the contract, Alstom Grid will supply all 765 kV products for this substation, manufactured locally in Alstom Grid?s factories in Vadodara, Padappai, Pallavaram, Hosur and Noida. These manufacturing factories were set up in India to meet the future needs of the country, as the transmission voltages move to Extra and Ultra High Voltage levels (up to 1,200 kV).
